Speed a factor in Marion County fatality; investigation continues

RIVESVILLE, W.Va. — The cause of a weekend fatality in Marion County is still under investigation.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department leads the investigation into the Rivesville wreck that killed Jeremiah Varner, 31, Sunday evening.

Varner crashed his 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 about 6 p.m. on Fairmont Road not far from the Paw Paw fairgrounds.

Deputy D. Lawson said speed was definitely a factor in the crash but he’s awaiting lab results as the investigation continues.

Varner died at Ruby Memorial Hospital from injuries sustained in the single vehicle wreck after 10 p.m.
