Trial of Raleigh County man accused of wife’s murder to begin Tuesday

PRINCETON, W.Va. — The trial of a man accused of killing his wife and burying her near the Raleigh-Mercer County line is scheduled to get underway Monday.

Johnnie Ray Farley, 61, was charged with first-degree murder in Oct. 2014 after Lynette Denise Farley was found in a shallow grave near the Egeria area.

The lead investigator in the alleged murder, S.G. Milam of the Beckley state police detachment, said that in a statement recorded in September, Farley admitted he slashed his wife’s tires one time to keep her from leaving.

He also allegedly admitted to visiting the store where Lynette worked and ramming her car with his pickup truck.

Farley has pleaded not guilty in the case, which was previously scheduled for trial May 26 before it was moved to Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.
