CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Pennsylvania man will spend over seven years in prison for his leadership role in a multi-state heroin and oxycodone trafficking operation.
Juwan Robert Woods, 32, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was sentenced Monday to 87 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley.
Woods was among 21 individuals charged in a 65-count federal indictment in November 2014, disrupting an extensive drug trafficking operation in which heroin and oxycodone were transported across state lines from Philadelphia to Morgantown for redistribution and sale throughout the region.
Woods pleaded guilty in April to a criminal Information charging him with one count of Aiding and Abetting the Distribution of Oxycodone within 1000’ of Protected Location. Specifically, Woods admitted that he distributed oxycodone near Wiles Hill playground in Monongalia County May 2014.
Another participant in the trafficking operation, Terri Shuttlesworth, 25, of Fairmont, West Virginia was sentenced to 10 months in prison for selling oxycodone in Monongalia County in late 2013 and early 2014.
He pleaded guilty in February 2015 to one count of Distribution of Oxycodone.
The West Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the FBI and the Mon Valley Drug and Violent Crime Task Force investigated.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
