Supreme Court Justice to attend drug court opening ceremony

SPENCER, W.Va. — Supreme Court Justice Brent D. Benjamin will attend the opening ceremony of an adult drug court serving Roane and Calhoun Counties on Tuesday at the Roane County Courthouse.

As part of the Justice Reinvestment Act passed in 2014, adult drug courts should be established in all of West Virginia counties by next July.

The implemented drug courts aim to increase the likelihood of successful rehabilitation while reducing the cost to the public of addressing drug issues in the legal system.
