Four charged in backhoe theft

DANVILLE, W.Va. — Four men are facing charges this morning after stealing a backhoe in Boone County.

Dispatchers say the incident happen about 2:30 a.m. Saturday. The suspects got their vehicle stuck in a ditch on a strip mine in the Lick Creek area near Danville. The backhoe was taken fromĀ a gas company job site nearby. The men stole the backhoe with plans to pull their vehicle out of the ditch, but in the process of pulling it turned over the machine.

None of the men was injured, but all were arrested.
