Freshman delegate testifies on Capitol Hill

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Berkeley County Delegate Saira Blair says the political system in Washington is a lot different than Charleston.

Blair spoke before the Congressional Budget Committee last week as part of the Restoring the Trust Initiative.

Her presentation focused on how government spending impacts millennial.

The questions that followed her presentation were scripted and disjointed, Blair said.

“A lot of people were clearly speaking to the camera,” Blair said.  “Going very off topic.”

Blair was one of four speakers. Some lawmakers did approach her after her presentation to hear her ideas, she said.
