Aboulhosn appointed to take over as U.S. Magistrate Judge

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — Mercer County Circuit Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn has been appointed to replace Magistrate Judge R. Clarke VanDervort in the wake of his upcoming retirement.

Aboulhosn with serve Bluefield and Beckley.

His appointment will be pending background checks from the FBI and the IRS, according to a press release.

Aboulhosn will be appointed to an eight-year term in the Southern District of West Virginia. He was born and raised in Princeton and is a graduate of Concord University and WVU College of Law.

He has been appointed several times to sit on Supreme Court cases in which a justice has recused himself.
