Randolph County man shot three times; suspect still at-large

MONTERVILLE, W.Va. — A man suffered multiple gunshot wounds in Randolph County early Friday morning at a residence along Valley Fork Road.

David Raines Jr., 42, was allegedly shot during a conversation by 37-year-old Jesse James Copen. Copen then fled the scene in a vehicle, traveling east on Valley Fork Road.

Copen was allegedly traveling with a second, unidentified male, and both men were in a white hatch-back car.

Raines was airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital by EMS, in stable condition with three gunshot wounds.

Copen has not been located and remains on the loose. Police continue to search for him in multiple locations.
