GLENVILLE, W.Va. — State Police in Glenville say they are talking to witnesses and trying to determine what sparked a weekend shooting which left a man dead.
Adam Couch 54, of Nicut in Calhoun County was charged with the shooting death of Delbert King, 50, of Shock. King was killed at a camping trailer in the community of Rosedale Friday night. Troopers had him in custody fairly quickly even though he fled the area.
“He fled the scene, but we had some eye witnesses who described the vehicle,” said State Police Sargent R.P. Smith. “They also had a possible idea of who he was.”
Couch was found at his residence in Calhoun County and charged with murder. Smith indicated they still aren’t sure what started the confrontation which led to the gunfire.
“It wasn’t a party, it was just a meeting from what we can gather,” said Smith. “We’re still trying to develop a motive on it.”
Smith said all indications are the the two knew one another.
Couch is lodged in the Central Regional Jail in Flatwoods without bond.
