3 businesses destroyed in Nicholas County fire

MT. NEBO, W.Va. — Three businesses were destroyed in an early morning fire Thursday in Nicholas County.

According to investigators, a building housing three businesses just off of U.S. Route 19 at Mt. Nebo caught fire–destroying Same As It Never Was antique shop, John Bounds Construction’s central office, and a beauty shop called The Fufu Shoppe.

There were no injuries.

Investigators with the state Fire Marshal’s Office and federal ATF were on the scene Thursday afternoon.

The blaze was reported at approximately 2:30 a.m. Firefighters responded within 10 minutes. They found the building full of flames. It took close to two and a half hours to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire isn’t know, but the State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.

Summersville Fire Department believes that the building’s metal roof caused the fire to move laterally throughout the building before it could begin venting.

A preliminary report suggests the fire departments used close to 50,000 gallons of water in fighting the fire.
