Names forwarded for open House seat

SPENCER, W.Va. — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin will soon choose a replacement for longtime House of Delegates member Bob Ashley who accepted an appointment from Tomblin to the state Senate earlier this month.

The Republican committee representing House District 11 submitted the names of three candidates to the governor Tuesday morning.

The committee interviewed five potential candidates in Spencer Monday and chose Tim Bailey, of Kenna, James Workman of Spencer and Rick Atkinson of Reedy.

Tomblin has five days to make the appointment. The person chosen will serve the rest of Ashley’s term, which runs out in Dec. 2016.
