WESTON, W.Va. — The execution of a search warrant in Lewis County led to the arrest of a man on both drug and firearm charges.
Steven Michael Sears, 37, was apprehended at his Camden Ave. residence in Weston Wednesday.
Deputies with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department found a 20 gauge shotgun, drug paraphernalia consistent with the the illegal use of methamphetamine, along with baggies and scales commonly used in the distribution of illegal drugs.
“Sears has been a significant player in the drug industry over the past several months,” Sheriff Adam Gissy said. “I’m hopeful that by arresting Sears, the distribution of methamphetamine will be considerably curbed within our county.”
While the deputies led the investigation, they were assisted by deputies from the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes and Drug Division and the public.
“I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the concerned citizens who provided much needed information to law enforcement, and ultimately aided in the arrest of the defendant,” Gissy said.
Sears is initially charged with five counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, –specifically methamphetamine– along with the charge of Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm.
He’s being held in Central Regional Jail with bond set at $250,000.
