WVU ’89 grad to lead alumni association

Col. Sean FrisbeeMORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Just a day before homecoming weekend activities kickoff at West Virginia University, leaders announced the return of graduate and retired U.S. Air Force colonel to lead the school’s alumni association.

Sean Frisbee earned his undergraduate degree in 1989 from WVU and served in the Air Force from then until 2012.

Col. Frisbee was named the new executive director of the Alumni Association and vice president of Alumni Relations.  He will be formally introduced to the campus in November.

“My life and career have really come full circle, from serving my country in the military, to getting involved in some business ventures and now returning to a place that gave me my start,” Frisbee said.  “I am super excited about coming back to WVU and connecting with alumni, support in the great state of West Virginia and helping my alma mater expand its global reach.”

The university is touting Frisbee’s work with the Iraqi Air Force during Operation Iraqi Freedom.  The husband and father of two is credited with leading the development of the F-22 stealth fighter weapon system and leading government and private business organizations.

Frisbee will responsible for the daily operations of the WVU Alumni Association. He will connect graduates through outreach worldwide.

Stephen Douglas, the president and CEO of the association will continue his focus on philanthropic work including retiring the remaining debt on the Erickson Alumni Center according to Thursday’s release.

Douglas thanked the Alumni Association for his chance to lead the organization for more than 3 decades.  “I look forward to working with Sean on future fundraising and friendship-building endeavors,” Douglas said.

Frisbee will come to Morgantown from Dayton, Ohio.
