Fatal motorcycle crash under investigation in Kanawha County

HUGHES CREEK, W.Va. — A Fayette County man was killed in a motorcycle crash on U.S. Route 60 in eastern Kanawha County Saturday afternoon, deputies said.

The crash occurred at just after 2:30 p.m. near the highway’s intersection with Hughes Creek Road. The driver, identified as Thomas Joe Edelman, 32, of Smithers, was pronounced dead at the scene after losing control of the motorcycle and hitting the concrete median separating the east and westbound lanes.

Edelman was ejected from the bike. He was originally traveling east, investigators said.

Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies are continuing their investigation.
