Fiery crash claims life on West Virginia Turnpike

PAINT CREEK, W.Va. — One person was killed in a fiery tractor trailer crash Friday night on the West Virginia Turnpike in Kanawha County.

The wreck, which happened at around 10 p.m. in the southbound lanes near the Paint Creek exit, shutdown those southbound lanes until early Saturday morning, authorities said. Traffic was diverted off the Turnpike as a part of a detour. The road reopened by 6 a.m.

State police are investigating the crash. The victim’s name hasn’t yet been released.
