Extra police presence at Chapmanville Middle School after threat

CHAPMANVILLE, W.Va. — There was extra police presence at Chapmanville Middle School Monday after a threat was found late last week.

The threat was found Friday in a textbook at the middle school. Investigators searched the building over the weekend and found nothing dangerous, according to officials.

Many parents kept children home despite school administrators enouraging them to send their kids to school; about 50 percent of the school attended class Monday.

Law enforcement will remain at the school all week.
