Harrison County man found guilty of selling morphine near local college

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A Harrison County man has been found guilty of federal drug crimes committed near a local college.

James Michael Conley, 38, of Clarksburg, was convicted of morphine trafficking Wednesday in federal court.

He sold morphine in September 2014 near Pierpont Community and Technical College and plead guilty to one count of Distribution of Morphine within 1,000 feet of a Protected Location.

Based on sentencing guidelines, he faces between one and forty years in prison and a fine of up to $2,000,000.

The Greater Harrison County Drug and Violent Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Shawn Adkins and Stephen Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided.
