MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Radio veteran Bob Visotcky has joined West Virginia Radio Corporation as market manager of the firm’s Charleston, West Virginia, seven-station cluster.
Visotcky started his radio career with WVRC while still a student at West Virginia University in 1979. His career path has led to management positions in multiple major markets including San Diego, Cleveland, Dallas, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
In making the announcement, WVRC president Dale Miller said, “John Raese and I are very pleased that Bob Visotcky has returned to West Virginia Radio Corporation and we look forward to the innovative ideas he brings our flagship cluster in Charleston. He is, without question, one of the finest radio executives in America”.
In responding to the announcement, Visotcky said, “This is full circle for me coming back to where I started my radio career. It’s good to be working with Dale Miller, Hoppy Kercheval and the great people here in Charleston”.
Visotcky pioneered the “Jammin’ Oldies” format in Los Angeles on MEGA 100 which was duplicated all over the country. As general manager in SanFrancisco,
Visotcky’s station beat perennial market leader KMEL and his adult-contemporary station in Cleveland was the market’s number one station and revenue leader. He comes to Charleston from San Diego where he revamped sales for the Padres Radio Network and led a staff of 10 multi-media sellers this past season.
During his time at WVU his roommate was MetroNews “Talkline” host and network anchor Hoppy Kercheval.
Bob Visotcky is a native of Garfield, New Jersey, and has three children – Demi, Johnny and Sophia.
West Virginia Radio Corporation owns 27-radio station in West Virginia and Maryland including four FM and three AM stations in Charleston.
