CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia School Building Authority plans to hear proposals from 20 counties that hope to secure funding for new school construction projects.
The SBA will hear the “needs” requests Monday and Tuesday, beginning with a reconsideration of Fayette County’s proposed change to its facilities plan. If it is reconsidered and approved, Fayette County School Superintendent Terry George will present the county’s school consolidation plan Tuesday morning.
The SBA was scheduled to hear from nine counties Monday. Superintendents will have 15 minutes each to present their projects, including Harrison County’s plan for a new Johnson Elementary School and Calhoun County’s request to renovate the a middle schoo/high school campus.
The authority has approximately $50 million to distribute when final decisions are announced next month.
