Huntington man arrested after alleged Speedway robbery, police chase

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A Huntington man was arrested and charged with robbing a Speedway gas station early Saturday morning in Huntington.

Sammy Cooper, Jr. allegedly went into the Speedway on Madison Avenue, brandished a knife and demanded cash from the clerk. While the clerk hid, he grabbed the cash drawer and allegedly fled the scene with it.

According to the criminal complaint, police found Cooper, Jr. after the robbery and chased him. Cooper Jr. was eventually stopped by a K-9.

Cooper, Jr. is charged with first-degree robbery, brandishing, and obstructing.
