McMECHEN, W.Va. — A complaint alleging Dr. Roland Chalifoux demonstrated unsafe medical practices at Valley Pain Management in Marshall County has been dismissed.
The state Board of Osteopathic Medicine voted last month to dismiss the complaint made by board members last year.
According to the complaint, Chalifoux was accused of acting unprofessionally and used unsafe injection practices at the facility in McMechen.
In July 2014, the board suspended his license to practice osteopathic medicine and surgery in West Virginia, following a state Department of Health and Human Resources employee visit in 2013 where Chalifoux was accused of not wearing a mask.
Chalifoux denied the accusations and the clinic reopened in September 2014 after Kanawha County Circuit Judge Charles King reinstated his license.
The judge ruled the state DHHR’s complaint against Chalifoux was because he refused to comply with a request for patient information after a patient developed meningitis in 2013, rather than improper practices at the clinic.
No charges were filed.
