Pedestrian killed in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — One man is dead and another injured after being hit by a car Wednesday evening in Martinsburg.

Martinsburg Police say two men were struck by a car around 6:00 p.m. while crossing through the parking lot of Eddie’s Tire on King Street.

One of the men, identified as Michael Cline of Inwood, was pronounced dead at Berkeley Medical Center.

The other victim was in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested the driver of the vehicle for revoked license and failure to keep right.

The driver passed field sobriety tests and there were no indications of alcohol use.

The driver did submit to a blood draw to determine if any drugs were in his system

Police say the driver claims to have been distracted while adjusting the stereo and overcompensated when he drifted into the center of the road.
