Beckley escapee arrested in Randolph County bank robbery

MILL CREEK, W.Va. — One person is in custody after an attempted bank robbery in Randolph County.

Gary Elmer Tacy, of Huttonsville, was apprehended Thursday after authorities responded at around 12:30 p.m. to the Mountain Valley Bank, N.A. in Mill Creek.

On Wednesday, Tacy had escaped from the Beckley Correctional Center work release program.

He was serving terms of five to 18 years and one to five years for Grand Larceny and Second Degree Robbery.

The Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, with assistance from State Police, were able to locate Elmer during a traffic stop in Coalton and he surrendered without incident.
