Parkersburg Police investigate shooting following alleged burglary

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — A Parkersburg man was shot late Monday night during what police say was a burglary followed by a confrontation over money.

Police say the victim, William Dawson, was shot in the leg after three men were found inside his and his wife’s residence on 11th Avenue.

Dawson suffered non-life threatening injuries and was released from a local hospital Tuesday.

Police believe all the men involved to be acquainted with each other, and continue to investigate the incident.

A search warrant was executed at another residence in south Parkersburg Tuesday attempting to locate evidence.
