CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Council of Chief State School Officers has chosen West Virginia Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michael Martirano to serve a three-year term on its Board of Directors.
Tony Evers, Wisconsin’s Superintendent of Public Instruction, was elected CCSSO president.
Martirano and the other new members join continuing members June Atkinson, past president of CCSSO’s board and the North Carolina Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Brenda Cassellius, Minnesota Education Commissioner.
The board consists of the president, the president-elect, the past president, and six directors elected by CCSSO members.
