Morgantown woman sentenced in arson case

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A minimum sentence was handed down in a Monongalia County arson case.

Sarah Beth Meckley, 33, of Morgantown has been ordered to 5 years in prison stemming from a May 2014 fire at Chateau Royale Apartment Complex.

In June, Meckley pleaded guilty to using fire and explosives to maliciously damage or destroy the property. She was facing up to 20 years in prison.

As part of the sentence imposed, Meckley must also pay more than $1.2 million in restitution.

The fire was started on the second floor of a office building for the apartment complex.
