Pocahontas County man back in WV to face double murder charges

ELKINS, W.Va. — A Pocahontas County man charged with murdering his grandparents has waived extradition and is now housed without bail in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail.

Aaron Bussard, 22, of Marlinton, is charged with shooting to death his grandfather, retired state trooper Tim McDaniels, 61, and his step grandmother, Shawn McDaniels, 59, on the couple’s property in Pocahontas County. The bodies were found last Friday.

Bussard was arrested in Alleghany County, Va., Saturday. He waived extradition during a hearing there Monday and was transported back to West Virginia.

A preliminary hearing will be scheduled in Pocahontas County Magistrate Court.
