I-64 crash kills one, injures another Tuesday night

MILTON, W.Va. — One person died and another was injured Tuesday in a three-vehicle crash on I-64 near the Putnam-Cabell county line.

The crash occurred just after 6 p.m. near the Milton exit, closing eastbound lanes for several hours.

Police the driver of a westbound pickup truck was killed after crossing the center line and hitting a guardrail. Police believe he suffered a medical emergency which caused him to lose control of the truck.

An eastbound SUV also hit the brakes to avoid hitting the truck, causing a tractor-trailer to rear-end that vehicle.

The driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at Charleston Area Medical Center Teays Valley Hospital. His name has not been released.

One person in the SUV was also transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
