The Lunch: Hilton Magic provides terrific rally, horrific break

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Iowa State’s winning streak remains unbroken, but not so Randy Peterson’s leg …

The Des Moines Register columnist sustained a brutal-looking compound fracture during Thursday night’s courtstorming at the typically raucous Hilton Coliseum, a venue made even more raucous by the Cyclones erasing a 20-point deficit to beat Iowa in closing seconds.

The Lunch wishes Peterson a prompt recovery and is already planning some sort of ceremonial cast-signing when the Mountaineers visit Ames on Feb. 2.

Next up for West Virginia, however, is a bounce-back opportunity Sunday against Louisiana-Monroe.
