Marshall to ring bells Thursday in honor of late president Kopp

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall University will honor late president Stephen Kopp on the one-year anniversary of his death by ringing bells on its Huntington campus Thursday morning.

The ringing will take place at 10 a.m. and the bells will be rung 10 times in honor of President Kopp’s nearly 10 years of service to the university.

“We hope everyone will pause and take a moment to remember Dr. Kopp as we ring the bells Thursday morning,” said Interim President Gary White. “He meant so much to this university. He not only was a colleague, but he was a dear friend and we miss him greatly.”

The bells are housed in the bell tower in the Morrow Library and can be heard throughout campus.
