Father and daughter charged in connection with Monroe County murder

PETERSTOWN, W.Va. — State police have a father and daughter in custody following a weekend murder in Monroe County.

Clyde Hughes Jr., 46, and his daughter, Katie Hughes, 22, were arrested and charged in connection with the death of Robert Lee Hughes, 41, of Peterstown.

Robert Hughes’ body was found inside a home when authorities responded to a call at around 4 p.m. on Saturday.

Clyde Hughes has been charged with murder, Katie Hughes with accessory before the fact.

Sgt. R.A. Maddy, district commander of the Mercer, McDowell and Monroe detachments, said Clyde and Robert are brothers.

The West Virginia State Police Union detachment and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the case.
