Upshur County man charged with DUI after wrecking vehicle and injuring passenger

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — An Upshur County man is facing charges today after after wrecking his vehicle while driving under the influence.

Michael Craig Courtney, 31, of Buckhannon, was allegedly driving east on U.S. 33 near WBUC Road at around 11 a.m. Monday when he lost control, slid to the left and rolled through the median.

The passenger in the vehicle, also a resident of Buckhannon, was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital where their condition is unknown.

Traffic was delayed around an hour while crews worked to clear the road.

Courtney is charged with second-offense driving under the influence and driving on a license revoked for driving under the influence.

He is being held at Tygart Valley Regional Jail.
