Police investigating reported armed robbery in Randolph County

ELKINS, W.Va. — Police in Randolph County are searching for a man wanted in connection to an attempted armed robbery from Tuesday night.

Reports indicate the initial call came in just before 8:45 p.m. from the Dollar General just off the Beverly Five-lane in Elkins.

The suspect is alleged to have come in with some sort of weapon and demanded that the cashier take out money from the register.

He is described as a white male, who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, light-colored blue jeans and white tennis shoes at the time.

After the suspect fled the scene on foot, other area businesses were put on lockdown as he is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information regarding the reported crime is asked to contact authorities immediately.

State Police, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department and the Elkins Police Department all responded to the call.
