Two charged in New Years Day assault in Logan County

LOGAN, W.Va. — Two women, one from Putnam County and one from Logan County, face criminal charges tied to a New Year’s Day attack in Logan County.

Deputies said Tonya Stevens, 36, of Logan was charged with kidnapping the victim and driving her to Man.  When they arrived, the victim told police Eskie Evans, 37, .of Poca and another unidentified female opened the car doors and started beating her repeatedly.  The woman claims she was also held at knife point, robbed of $55, and told if she didn’t come up with more money within three days, she would be beaten again.

The victim claimed Stevens then drove to another nearby residence and refused to let her out of the car,. She added Stevens told her if she went to police, she and her children would be killed.

Stevens is being held at the Southwestern Regional Jail on charges of kidnapping,conspiring to commit a felony, and assault.   Evans is charged with  first degree robbery, conspiracy, assault and attempted extortion.
