Pennsylvania mining accident claims life of Boone County man

MOUNT MORRIS, Pa. — A Boone County man was killed in a weekend mining accident, authorities said.

Jeremy Neice, 31, of Danville, died at the Mepco 4 West Mine, near Mount Morris, Pa., at around 6 p.m. Saturday.

Morgantown-based Mepco released a statement regarding the incident:

“We at the company are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague. During this very difficult time, we extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Jeremy’s family, to all employees, and to all who knew Jeremy.”

Federal and state mine investigations were underway.
