MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The week four edition of the high school boys basketball MetroNews Power Index computer rankings was released on Wednesday.
Weather prevented 77 teams in the state from playing a game over the past week (at least). Still, there were several significant games that did have an impact on the ratings, including Martinsburg’s 64-61 win over previously undefeated Musselman. The Bulldogs (12-2) jumped from No. 4 up to No. 2 this week, just behind No. 1 Huntington (10-0).
Morgantown (11-0) stays at No. 3, while Musselman (11-1) drops to No. 4. Bridgeport (7-0) remains the highest rated Class AA team at No. 5 overall, while Notre Dame (9-1) stays as the top rated Class A team at No. 16. Wheeling Central (11-0) has closed the gap on the Irish, however, and comes in at No. 17 overall.
The MetroNews Power Index is a computer based formula that factors in strength of schedule. Records listed are for games played through Tuesday, January 26.
This is the 30th year for the MetroNews Power Index, powered by MVB Bank and 31st season that MetroNews will broadcast the WVSSAC state championship games.
