Charleston, W.Va. — A man and woman were shot while sitting in a white BMW in the Kanawha City section of Charleston at just after noon Saturday, police said.
Jatally Wiiliams, of New York, and Anique Williamson, 27, of Charleston, were shot by a man in a black BMW, according to Charleston Police Chief of Detectives Steve Cooper.
“There was some kind of disagreement between at least two parties in two separate vehicles,” Cooper said. “It came to a head at the intersection of 46th and MacCorkle.”
The pair suffered non life threatening injuries.
“It does not appear to be a random shooting. They knew each other,” Cooper said.
Police are also looking for a red SUV that fled the scene. It has possible front end damage after the victims’ car backed into it.
Police would not speculate on a possible motive shortly after the shooting.
“When parties are prone to violence wherever they run into one another it’s going to happen. It’s not going to happen in a specific geographical area,” Cooper said “It’s going to happen where they see each other.”
The suspect is a black man driving a black BMW. Cooper said the driver may have been driving erratically right after the shooting and then may have attempted to hide the vehicle.
