KINGSTON, W.Va. — A Fayette County-based coal company has alerted several dozen workers they’ll be losing their jobs.
Kingston Mining, an Alpha Natural Resources subsidiary, announced the furloughing of 89 workers at its Kingston No. 1 and No. 2 operations.
The company blamed the layoffs on a decreased market for coal because of bad market conditions.
There have been more than 2,000 coal layoffs announced since the beginning of the year.
