Jesse Davis, 38, of Grantsville, was arrested Tuesday after allegedly setting fire to two of his vehicles in an attempt to fraudulently collect money from his insurance company.

When one of those vehicles was set on fire, a child was in the vehicle, according to State Police. The child was not injured, but Davis was charged with neglect for the incident.

Davis is lodged in the Central Regional Jail in Flatwoods. His bail is set at $30,000.

An official with the town said they were aware of the incident and would let the legal proceedings play out before a decision is made regarding Davis’ status as a member of council.
