Mingo County man to spend at least 16 years in jail for sexual assault of two young girls

WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — A Mingo County man was sentenced to 16 years in prison Thursday for the sexual assault of two young girls.

Maximo Ayala, Jr., 23, was arrested in August for the sexual assault of a girl who was 7-years-old, as well as a teenager.

Ayala previously pleaded guilty in January to the assaults of both girls.

He admitted to having sexual contact with the 7-year-old, who is a member of his extended family at his Williamson home. He further admitted to having a relationship with the then 13-year-old girl. That girl is now 16, and has two children with Ayala.

Ayala was sentenced to 16-50 years in prison on the charges. He must serve 16 years before being considered eligible for parole.

Upon completion of his sentence, he will be required to register as a sex offender and participate in an intensive supervision program for 50 years.
