CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The House of Delegates honored three University of Charleston students Friday for their life-saving efforts last summer.

UC student athletes Conor Branson, Jordan Lavender and Elle Martin were named in a House citation read during the floor session.

The trio was traveling back to Charleston from Michigan last August when a truck approaching them on rural route in Ohio went out of control and over an embankment bursting into flames.
The three jumped out to help. They were able to pull the driver to safety.

Branson, Lavender and Martin were honored by the Ohio State Highway Patrol in a recent ceremony at UC. They were in the well of the House Chamber Friday surrounded by members of the Kanawha County delegation.

Branson and Lavender are soccer players at UC while Martin is a member of the rowing team.
