One dead in Nicholas County crash

GREEN VALLEY, W.Va. — West Virginia State Police in Nicholas County are investigating a fatal accident from Thursday night near the Nicholas-Greenbrier county line.

First responders pronounced James Smith, 47, of Gassaway, WV in Braxton County dead at the scene.

Smith drove a vehicle north on Route 20 off the right roadway edge, striking the guard rail. The vehicle rolled over and fell to the bottom of the hill.

That vehicle belonged to Slurry Pavers in Richmond, Virginia.

State Police is investigating.
