Funeral services set for Ranson mayor

RANSON, W.Va. — City officials have made plans to remember longtime Mayor Dave Hamill who died Friday after a yearlong battle with cancer.

Hamill will lie in repose in city council chambers at Ranson City Hall Tuesday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Hamill’s funeral is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Asbury United Methodist Church.

Hamill spent 30 years serving as mayor of Ranson.

U.S. Senator Shelly Moore Capito is among those who worked with him.

“He just always amazed me with his innovation,” Capito said.

Capito had worked with Hamill since her election to Congress in 2000.

All flags in Ranson to be lowered to half-staff though Feb. 12 as a tribute to Hamill
