Tanker truck spill shuts down Route 85 in Boone County

VAN, W.Va. — A tanker truck wreck that leaked toxic chemicals shut down Route 85 in the Bull Creek area between Uneeda and Van Monday night.

A hazmat team was on the scene to help clean up the chemical sodium hydroxide, also known as caustic soda.

The wreck happened just after 3 p.m., and only minor injuries were reported.

State Police, the state DOT and local fire departments were also on hand.
