AMES, Iowa — Teana Muldrow and freshman Katrina Pardee each made four 3-pointers and No. 22 West Virginia spoiled senior night for Iowa State 82-57 at the Hilton Coliseum.
Five players reached double-figures for the Mountaineers (23-8, 12-6), who matched their season high with 13 3-pointers and clinched third place in the Big 12. Lanay Montgomery had 14 points, as did Muldrow and Pardee, while Bria Holmes and Tynice Martin scored 13 each.
“We shot the ball extremely well,” said coach Mike Carey. “They backed off us and some people hit some big shots. We did what we had to do to win. It’s good to have 12 wins in the league and finish third in a really good Big 12 Conference. We’re shooting the ball pretty well right now. Hopefully, we can continue that into the Big 12 tournament.”
Back after a two-game leave of absence after her father’s stroke, Seanna Johnson had 21 points and 14 rebounds for Iowa State (13-16, 5-13), which fell behind 12-0 in the opening minutes and never recovered.
“It’s kind of a glimpse into the kind of person Seanna is let alone basketball player she is,” said Cyclones coach Bill Fennelly. “It’s great to have her back. She got to spend some time with her Iowa State family.”
Muldrow had eight rebounds and made 4-of-5 from 3, while Pardee shot 4-of-7. Holmes finished with a game-high eight assists, Montgomery added eight rebounds and Arielle Roberson collected 11 boards.
West Virginia faced sixth-seeded Kansas State in Saturday’s 9:30 p.m. quarterfinal game at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Okla.
