Paige unanimous choice for Sixth Man award; make 2nd-team All-Big 12

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Jaysean Paige picked up Sixth Man of the Year honors in the Big 12, but settled for second-team all-conference Sunday.

The All-Big 12 first five included player of the year Buddy Hield from Oklahoma, Kansas forward Perry Ellis, Iowa State forward Georges Niang and Baylor guard Taurean Prince.

Paige, who was a unanimous choice for the sixth-man award, made the second unit, along with teammate Devin Williams, Iowa State point guard Monte Morris, and the Kansas duo of Frank Mason and Wayne Selden.

West Virginia’s Jevon Carter made the All-Defensive team for the second straight season, but Bob Huggins—despite taking a team picked sixth to the No. 2 seed—was denied a repeat as Coach of the Year. That went to Tubby Smith, whose Red Raiders finished only seventh in the league but are primed for their first NCAA bid since 2007.
