Jury seated in trial of Wood County man accused of plotting state government overthrow

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Opening arguments are scheduled Wednesday in the trial of man accused of plotting to overthrow the West Virginia state government.

A 12-member jury was seated Tuesday for the trial of Thomas David Deegan.

Deegan is charged with making a terrorist threat after being arrested last September.

Deegan has claimed to be a “sovereign citizen”, and that his legal name is “Thomas House of Deegan”.
