MILL CREEK, W.Va. — A man who allegedly assaulted a state police trooper was arrested Wednesday evening in Randolph County.
Nathaniel Wegman was taken into custody in the Huttonsville area, according to a posting on the West Virginia State Police Facebook page.
Troopers began looking for Wegman Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly attacked a trooper that was trying to take him into custody. Wegman was a fugitive from justice in Indiana.
Wegman fled the scene in an unknown direction.
“Mr. Wegman resisted and assaulted the trooper and was able to leave the scene” WV State Police Public Information Officer Lt. Michael Baylous said.
The trooper suffered non-life threatening injuries, but his name and condition haven’t been released.
Police also arrested the woman they believed to be driving the car and found the car a few hours before taking Wegman into custody.
