BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — The search was scheduled to continue Friday morning for an elderly man who has been missing since late Wednesday night.

Arnold “Arnie” Phipps, 68, of Upshur County was last seen at his home before family members reported him missing Thursday morning.

After his vehicle was located off Marion Street, near the Poe Bridge, in Buckhannon, authorities called in a river search team as well as a helicopter to look in and around the water.

The search was called off at dusk Thursday, but was set to resume the next morning, with the river search to pick up Saturday.

It’s not clear as if there was any motive behind Phipps’ disappearance, as it has been reported that he left many of his possession that he would normally take with him behind.

Police and family members are concerned due to the fact that he suffers from undisclosed medical issues.

Anyone with knowledge about Phipps’ whereabouts is asked to contact 911 or the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department 304-472-1180.
