Bus with Gregg Allman show crashes on I-77

GOLDTOWN, W.Va. — Three members of the crew for singer Gregg Allman were treated and released after one of the tour’s buses crashed early Wednesday morning on I-77 in Jackson County.

A spokesman for the tour says the three were all support staff for Allman who was not on the bus. Allman is due to perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Charleston’s Clay Center. The show will go on as scheduled, a spokesman said.

The bus left I-77 near Goldtown close to the Jackson/Kanawha County line around 5 a.m. There were two buses traveling together when one crossed the median from the southbound lanes, crossed the northbound lanes and went through the guardrail and over the embankment, Jackson County sheriff’s deputies said.

There were 10 people on the bus. Soon after the accident, crews were unloading music equipment from the bus.

Work to remove the bus is underway to get the bus back up on the highway.
